COLUMBUS – A suspect was arrested in connection with an alleged pedestrian and vehicle hit-and-run Friday on Lehmberg Road.
Andrew Thompson, 33, was arrested for leaving the scene of an accident resulting in serious bodily harm, according to a press release sent to The Dispatch from the Columbus Police Department.
At about 10:46 p.m., officers responded to reports of a person lying in the road at the 900 block of Lehmberg Road. Officers located a victim who was suffering from injuries from a hit-and-run with a vehicle.
The victim was taken to Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle that night and was later airlifted to another nearby hospital for additional treatment, Cpl. Nicholas Hairston told The Dispatch.

Thompson was taken into custody by CPD and later taken to Baptist for an initial evaluation.
Afterwards he was taken to Lowndes County Adult Detention Center.
