A Steens man was killed in an early morning wreck Sunday, according to Lowndes County Coroner Greg Merchant.
Matthew Tyler Hall, 25, lost control of his 2016 Toyota Scion in the 1900 block of Sand Road and struck a tree, Merchant said. There is a curve in the road there, and the accident happened as Hall “came out of the curve.”
An off-duty Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office deputy spotted the wreckage about 6 a.m. Sunday, Merchant said. Hall had been ejected and was pronounced dead on the scene.
Merchant said he thinks the accident happened around 2 a.m. because a witness who lives close by said they were woken up by a loud noise. When they didn’t see anything they went back to bed.
