STARKVILLE — A Starkville man was arrested Monday after he allegedly strangled his romantic partner.
Donnell Jordan, 49, was charged with aggravated assault, Starkville Police Department Public Information Officer Sgt. Brandon Lovelady wrote in a press release to The Dispatch.
Police reported to the Cedar Cove Apartments at 500 Louisville Street at about 12:30 p.m. Monday after receiving a 911 call reporting a domestic occurrence, Lovelady told The Dispatch.
Lovelady said officers interviewed Jordan and the victim, who were in a romantic relationship. After an investigation, officers arrested Jordan, he said.
Medical personnel treated the victim at the scene, and she was released. Lovelady could not confirm whether she was injured aside from the strangulation.
Jordan was taken to the Oktibbeha County Jail. His bond had not been set as of press time on Monday.
Lovelady encouraged anyone with more information on the incident to contact Starkville Police Department at (662) 323-4131, Golden Triangle Crime Stoppers at (800) 530-7151 or through the anonymous tip system on the SPD website.
