STARKVILLE – A man is in jail following a Memorial Day weekend shooting that left another man in critical condition.
Jakavious Goss, 19, of Starkville, was arrested and charged with domestic violence aggravated assault after allegedly shooting a man Sunday at Chandler Park Apartments, according to a Starkville Police Department press release.
Police responded to a disturbance at about 2:25 p.m. at the complex, located at 309 Reed Road, where they found an adult male gunshot victim, the release said. SPD Public Information Officer Brandon Lovelady confirmed to The Dispatch the incident took place inside a unit.
The victim was taken to a hospital in Jackson in critical condition. The Dispatch could not confirm the victim’s condition as of Monday afternoon, and Lovelady did not respond to requests for further information regarding the shooting by press time Monday.
Goss was arrested on scene and is being held at Oktibbeha County Jail. His bond information was not publicly available on the OCSO website as of Monday.
