Two more suspects are charged with murder in the shooting death of Labronze Moore, 17, of Columbus.
Rufus Neal, 24, turned himself in to Columbus police Tuesday evening, Assistant Police Chief Garland Ward told The Dispatch. City SWAT officers, along with Lowndes County sheriff’s deputies, attempted earlier that day to arrest Neal at his home, but he was not there.
Enry Meadows, 17, was arrested by SWAT on Wednesday at his Columbus home, according to a Columbus Police Department press release.
They are among six charged in Moore’s death Nov. 22 at the 200 block of North McCrary Road in East Columbus.
Moore suffered a gunshot wound to the head. He was taken to Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle by ambulance and was later airlifted to the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson before passing away on Saturday.
Ward said CPD has found more than 30 shell casing from different firearms at the scene, and police believe all six suspects fired.
“We really don’t have any motives at this time,” Ward said.
Along with Neal, Tavaris Laquond Mixon, 18, Johnny Coleman, Neal’s brother Rasheed and Kenzel Guyton, all of whom are 17, have also been charged with murder.
CPD is still looking for more suspects, and Ward expects more arrests to come soon.
“This case is still under investigation,” he said. “We have the names of the other people we are looking for.”
A booking photo for Meadows was not available by press time.
