STARKVILLE — Two suspects, including a teenager, have been arrested in connection with a Thursday night shooting at a residence on Orchard Lane near Reed Road.
Jaleen Young, 22, of Columbus, and Ladarius Jordan, 16, of Starkville, have both been charged with aggravated assault. Young also has been charged with shooting into a dwelling.
The shooting was related to a fight between two female juveniles to which police were called at about 10:39 p.m. Jordan was the sole gunshot victim in the incident and was arrested after being treated at OCH Regional Medical Center. Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office assisted in arresting Young.
At least one of the suspects is related to one of the females fighting, though Starkville Police Department Public Information Officer Brandon Lovelady did not disclose who.
Lovelady said Young and Jordan are believed to be the primary shooters in the incident, but more arrests are expected.
As of press time, a bond had not been set for either Young or Jordan, and both are being held in Oktibbeha County Jail.
