The city and county’s tourism board has a full nine members for the first time in nearly 16 months.
The newest member of the Columbus Lowndes Convention and Visitors Bureau Board of Trustees is Thomas “Tango” Moore, Lowndes County Board of Supervisors President Harry Sanders announced during today’s supervisor’s meeting.
Moore, a retired Marine and current vice president of marketing at Stark Aerospace, was appointed by Sanders and Columbus Mayor Robert Smith. That is the only seat on the board appointed by Sanders and Smith. The board of supervisors appoints four seats and the Columbus City Council appoints the other four.
Moore’s tenure as a board member begins this month.
He is the third newcomer to the board this year. In February, Lester “Pinky” King, retired partner of S&K Door, was appointed by the board of supervisors after Leon Ellis chose not to apply for another term on the board. Shortly after King’s appointment, board member Bart Wise stepped down. Supervisors appointed Brock Reynolds, Newell Paper Company sales manager, to replace Wise.
Earlier this year, the terms for city-appointed CVB members Whirllie Byrd and Nadia Dale ended. Councilmen voted to reappoint both of them.
Moore replaces Harvey Myrick, who Sanders and Smith removed from the board in June 2013.
