Police are searching for a suspect following a Thursday shooting on the 900 Block of Fourth Avenue South.
Shots were fired into an apartment building at around 4:44 p.m., Columbus Police Department Public Information Officer Bryan Moore told The Dispatch.
The department has since issued a warrant for Patrion Barrett connected to the shooting. Barrett is 5-foot-9 and about 110 pounds, with brown skin, Moore said. He was last seen wearing a black hoodie, black pants and a black shirt.
The apartment was occupied by Barrett’s girlfriend, Moore said, though no one was injured in the gunfire.
CPD alerted Mississippi University for Women and Mississippi School for Mathematics and Science of the shooting, due to the proximity to both schools, Moore said.
Barrett is considered armed and dangerous, Moore said.
Anyone with further information on the shooting should contact the CPD Investigation Division or call Golden Triangle Crime Stoppers at (800) 530-7151.
