Mississippi Highway Patrol is investigating two separate crashes in Lowndes County, one that took the life of a pedestrian and another that killed the driver.
The first happened at about 1:46 a.m. Saturday on Highway 50 near Eullie Drive, according to a press release from Sgt. Derrick Beckom.
A Chevrolet Camaro struck a pedestrian, Beckom said. The victim died at the scene and has not been identified, pending notification of next of kin.

Merchant said Black was driving a Lexus SUV north on Highway 45 Tuesday when his vehicle left the roadway just south of Perkins Road at about 10 a.m.. The vehicle crossed into northbound traffic before hitting a tree. Black was pronounced dead at the scene.
The causes for both crashes remain under investigation, Beckom said.
