The Dispatch is welcoming a few new characters to its funny page.
A new military-focused comic, “Fort Knox,” recounts artist Paul Jon”s experiences as a military brat and reports on the parade of whimsical characters he met while on his father”s various tours of duty — including one at Fort Knox, Ky.
“Candorville,” a popular comic strip by artist Darren Bell that has gained a strong nationwide following, follows a group of diverse friends in the inner city. Through the eyes of its main characters, “Candorville” explores issues of bigotry, poverty, homelessness, biracialism, the culture of victimhood, youth and personal responsibility, along with politics and personal events — but in a fun and upbeat way.
The two new strips replace “Tina”s Groove” and “Beetle Bailey” on our comics page.
