A party last weekend at a Mississippi State University fraternity house has resulted in a police investigation and possible school sanctions.
The MSU Police Department Wednesday executed a search warrant at the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity house, located on Sheely Circle, based on allegations of multiple alcohol violations and a possible sexual assualt, according to a Mississippi State University release. Officers were assisted by the Starkville Police Department and Oktibbeha County Sheriff”s Office.
Investigators Thursday continued to collect evidence and witness statements, said Bill Kibler, vice president for student affairs.
“We take these allegations very seriously and the university will take appropriate actions based on the results of the investigation,” Kibler said.
According to Kibler, the fraternity faces the possibility of university sanctions, as well as criminal charges.
“We are aggressively pursuing this investigation and will follow it to its conclusion,” he said.
Mississippi State University Police Department Chief Georgia Lindley Thursday said no charges have been filed.
“Our investigation is ongoing,” Lindley said. “We”re still interviewing people and processing evidence.”
