Tuesday’s mayoral candidate forum has been moved to Nissan Auditorium on the Mississippi University for Women campus.
The Dispatch, the event’s sponsor, announced the venue change Thursday due to HVAC issues at Lyceum at Lee, where the event was originally scheduled.
Nissan Auditorium is located in Parkinson Hall, which is the glass facade building facing the old Pohl Gym.
Nearly 400 tickets have been reserved for the planned 90-minute forum, which will begin at 6 p.m. All three mayoral candidates, Democrat Stephen Jones and independents Darren Leach and Bill Strauss, have agreed to participate.
Joey Barnes with WCBI and Zack Plair, managing editor for The Dispatch, will moderate. The event will be livestreamed on Facebook.
“We’ve had a tremendous amount of interest in this event, and I think Nissan Auditorium will be a great venue. There should be plenty of parking since graduation has already occurred,” said Dispatch publisher Peter Imes.
Limited tickets are still available at cdispatch.com/forum. Admission is free but tickets are required.
