A Columbus favorite is reopening soon.
When American Deli closed in Columbus Place back in May, the reaction was everywhere. People weren’t just disappointed; they wanted to know not if, but when American Deli would reopen. It was all over social media, and I got several texts and emails. Now, we finally have some good news.
Contractor Tony Vu says the long-awaited reopening date is just about here.
“We are almost done,” he texted me.
If you’ve driven down Old Aberdeen lately, you’ve probably noticed the signs are already up next to Hibbett Sports. The hours are posted, which is a promising sign that we’re getting closer to opening day: 11 a.m.-9:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 11 a.m.-10:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
The food news keeps on coming in Columbus.
Just around the corner, Supreme Wings and More has already stepped in to fill the void, opening last week in the former CJ’s Pizza spot. The menu has it all with Philly cheesesteaks, wings, burgers, gyros and even fried rice. It’s got something for everyone.
Hours there run 10:30 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 10:30 a.m.-10 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 11 a.m.-8:30 p.m. Sunday.
Meanwhile, over at Lion Hills Center, something a little different is on the menu. On April 21, East Mississippi Community College students will take over Mulligan’s for “The Southern Table Experience,” a one-night event from 5-8 p.m.
“Enjoy a unique dining experience featuring thoughtfully prepared dishes, warm Southern flavors and a chance to support the next generation of culinary professionals,” the social media post reads.

Moving on, Columbus-based Prestige Event Rentals is expanding its footprint, officially opening a Starkville location at 100 Russell St. From large-scale tents to popcorn machines, Prestige Event Rentals has almost anything you need to host a wedding or other large event. Check out their website and social media for more information.
Speaking of events, the annual Cotton District Arts Festival is Saturday.
What started in 1986 has grown into one of Starkville’s signature events, bringing artists, makers and plenty of foot traffic into the Cotton District.
Check out the festival 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. to support some local artists, check out some handcrafted goods and enjoy the bright sunshine.
See y’all next week.
