A suspect has been charged in a statutory rape that allegedly occurred five years ago on the 2400 block of Main Street.
Alvie Jordan, 39, was arrested Wednesday in the alleged incident that involved a female minor, according to a press release from Columbus Police Department.
Police began investigating after the victim came forward and reported the incident. The victim told investigators she was previously threatened, which contributed to her not reporting it sooner.
Jordan is being held in Lowndes County Adult Detention Center with bond set at $250,000.
The investigation is ongoing, the press release said. Anyone with information can contact CPD or leave an anonymous tip with Golden Triangle Crime Stoppers at (800) 530-7151.
