A Columbus man was arrested this week in connection to a July car crash that resulted in a woman’s death.
Tyler Spencer, 25, was charged with an aggravated DUI on Monday after Columbus Police Department received his subpoenaed medical records, Public Information Officer Bryan Moore told The Dispatch on Thursday.
Moore said Spencer’s medical records showed evidence of drugs in his system, though he did not know what kind.
The day of the crash, Spencer was driving a Honda with one passenger, Egypt Arianna Cooper, traveling northbound on North Lehmberg Road when his vehicle struck the bridge crossing McBee Creek just after 5:30 p.m., according to previous reporting by The Dispatch.
Cooper, 20, died at the scene. Spencer was airlifted to Northeast Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo with serious injuries.
Moore could not confirm when Spencer was released from the hospital.
Spencer is being held at the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office. His bond has been set at $250,000.
