A 20-year-old woman is dead after a single-car crash early Sunday morning.
Lowndes County Coroner Greg Merchant identified the victim as Egypt Arianna Cooper.
Cooper was a passenger in a Honda traveling northbound on North Lehmberg Road when the vehicle struck the bridge crossing McBee Creek just after 5:30 a.m., Merchant said.
Cooper died at the scene of the accident, while the driver of the vehicle was flown from the scene to Northeast Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo with serious injuries.
Merchant said his office and Columbus Police Department are investigating the crash.
