A Columbus man is in custody after allegedly stabbing someone after an argument over yard work, according to Columbus Police Department Public Information Officer Johannah Owusu.
Isiam D. Perkins, 58, of Columbus, was arrested Sunday and charged with aggravated assault, Owusu said.
Perkins was located after a tip to Golden Triangle Crime Stoppers about his whereabouts, she said.
According to a press release sent out Saturday, CPD officers responded to the 2500 block of 23rd Avenue North for a reported stabbing about 9:30 a.m. Saturday.
The victim and Perkins allegedly got into an argument about yard work, Owusu said. The confrontation became physical and Perkins stabbed the victim in the neck with a knife and then fled the scene.
The victim was taken to Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle.
Perkins was still in custody at the Lowndes County Adult Detention Center as of press time.
According to Lowndes County Circuit Court records, Perkins was indicted for aggravated assault in 2014 but the case was eventually dismissed.
