A Lowndes County woman was killed in a wreck Monday afternoon, according to Lowndes County Coroner Greg Merchant.
Late Monday afternoon Laura Mitchell Thomas, 74, was driving south on Highway 45 North, Merchant said. She ran off the left side of the road, overcorrected, and lost control of her Buick.
The car went off the road and overturned near the old 45 Club, Merchant said. It came to rest about 10 feet short of a small pond.
Thomas was pronounced dead at the scene, Merchant said.
