A Lowndes County man died in a two-vehicle crash Thursday evening.
Daniel Maddox, 32, was identified as the driver by Lowndes County Coroner Greg Merchant in a text to The Dispatch on Friday.
The accident occurred at about 6:15 p.m., according to a press release from Mississippi Highway Patrol.
Maddox was traveling north on Highway 69 South when he lost control and collided with a southbound Nissan SUV, Merchant said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The other driver sustained “serious injuries” and was taken to Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle.
There were no other passengers in either vehicle and no other injuries were reported, MHP Public Affairs Officer Bryant Flake told The Dispatch.
The cause of the crash is still currently under investigation, Flake said.
