Judges Lee Howard and Jim Kitchens handed down sentences on a dozen defendants Wednesday in Oktibbeha County Circuit Court.
· Howard sentenced Jake Mullins to two years in the Mississippi Department of Corrections for possession of cocaine greater than 1/10 of a gram but less than two grams. Howard also ordered Mullins to serve five years of post-release supervision and pay a $750 fine.
· Kitchens did not accept the guilty plea of Christopher Robert Madson on one count of burglary of a business and instead gave Madson five years of probation and ordered him to pay a $250 fine, plus $653.06 in restitution.
· Howard sentenced Otis Young to eight years in the MDOC for possession of cocaine greater than 1/10 of a gram but less than two grams. Howard also ordered Young to pay a $1,000 fine.
· Kitchens did not accept the guilty plea of Christi Jo Harvey on one count of possession of methamphetamine and instead put Harvey on five years of probation, ordered her to pay $200 in restitution and a $250 fine.
· Howard sentenced Donald Sidney to two years in the MDOC for one count of identity theft and another two years for one count of receiving stolen property, although the sentences are to run concurrently. Sidney also must pay $2,000 in fines and $249.56 in restitution. He faces five years of post-release supervision.
· Kitchens did not accept the guilty plea of Rochquel Lynn Johnson on one count of uttering forgery and instead gave Johnson five years of probation. Johnson also must pay a $200 fine and $67.41 in restitution.
· Howard sentenced Derrick Smith to four years in the MDOC and assigned him to the Regimented Inmate Discipline program for three counts of burglary. He also must pay a combined $3,000 in fines.
· Kitchens did not accept the guilty plea of Waneppe Halsey on one count of identity theft and instead gave Halsey five years of probation. Halsey also must pay a $200 fine and $20 in restitution.
· Howard sentenced Jana Haynes to one year of house arrest and two years of post-release supervision for felony false pretense. If Haynes does not successfully complete the house arrest and post-release supervision, she must complete the three year-sentence in the MDOC. Haynes also must pay a $500 fine and $348.06 in restitution.
· Kitchens sentenced Arthur Tate, deemed by the court as an habitual offender, to four years in the MDOC without the possibility of parole for possession of cocaine. Tate also must pay a $200 fine.
· Howard sentenced Randy Bell to 10 years in the MDOC but suspended the sentence and instead gave Bell five years of probation for grand larceny. Bell also must pay a $500 fine and $5,800 in restitution.
· Kitchens sentenced Illesha Wynter to 10 years in the MDOC for each of two counts of identity theft and 10 years in the MDOC for each of two counts of fraudulent use of identification, but suspended all of the sentences in lieu of five years of probation. Wynter also must pay $7,822.66 in restitution and a combined $300 in fines.
