A package in Golden Triangle Regional Airport’s terminal prompted a law enforcement investigation on Christmas Eve.
Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a suspicious package in the terminal at 5:21 a.m. Monday, according to a department press release. Officers inspected the package and found it was a box a Mississippi State University professor left in the terminal as part of a study.
The release says officers determined the box was harmless and interviewed the professor during the investigation.
GTRA Executive Director Mike Hainsey said the incident delayed one flight and the airport resumed normal operations at 8:15 a.m. Monday.
No charges are forthcoming in the incident.
