Four individuals have been arrested for felony domestic violence in Lowndes County in the last two weeks.
Deputies arrested Johnny Will Dunn, 34, of Steens, on June 16, according to an incident report obtained from Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office.
According to the report, Dunn attacked a romantic partner at their shared home the day before after finding a text message he didn’t like in the victim’s phone. Dunn allegedly slung the victim by her hair while simultaneously choking her until she passed out. After the alleged assault, Dunn left the scene. The victim called 911 but later refused medical treatment.
Dunn has been charged with domestic violence aggravated assault. He has been released from Lowndes County Adult Detention Center on $1,500 bond.
On Thursday, deputies arrested Marissa Danielle Turnipseed, 23, of 1125 Main Street in Caledonia.
Just before midnight that day, deputies responded to a disturbance involving weapons at the home. Two people were involved in the altercation, one of whom had a cut on his leg. Turnipseed admitted to investigators she threw a knife at the victim, causing the cut, but claimed it was in self-defense.
Investigators determined Turnipseed was the primary aggressor and arrested her for domestic violence aggravated assault.
She has been released from LCADC on $7,500 bond.
Deputies also arrested two individuals for separate incidents on Sunday.
Trey Antoine Gibbs, 29, of 4105 Military Rd, was charged with domestic violence aggravated assault after reportedly attacking and strangling a woman until she couldn’t breathe.
The victim was taken to Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle on Sunday after the assault left her dizzy, in pain and with trouble swallowing. She reported to deputies that Gibbs had attacked her the night before, hitting her and then choking her.
Gibbs is currently in custody in LCADC on $5,000 bond.
The same day, deputies arrested Rodney Lamont Sherrod, 37, of 898 W. Minnie Vaughn Road. According to an incident report obtained from LCSO, a family member of Sherrod’s reported Sherrod pushed her onto a bed and choked her with both hands until her vision blurred.
Sherrod was charged with domestic violence aggravated assault and contempt of court for an unrelated charge. He is in custody at LCADC on $5,000 bond.
