Christian speaker and former mobster Michael Franzese’s visit to Columbus today is postponed until next month after he suffered an unexpected injury.
Columbus 2717, a group focused on helping strengthen and support men in the Columbus community, was scheduled to host Franzese at the Trotter Convention Center as he shared his testimony.
Franzese grew up as the son of an underboss for the Colombo crime family in New York before becoming a mob boss himself, earning between $5 million and $8 million each week at his peak, Franzese’s website said. But after meeting his wife, Franzese walked away from the mob and became a Christian.
Leroy Brooks, a member of the group, told The Dispatch the event is rescheduled for 7 p.m. Aug. 7 at the Trotter Center.
“From what I told, he’s definitely rescheduled, so we’re going to work from there,” Brooks said.
