OKTIBBEHA COUNTY — A home in Oktibbeha County burned to the ground Wednesday, though nobody was injured and firefighters stopped it from spreading to nearby properties.
Volunteer firefighters responded to a call that came in at roughly 2 a.m. Wednesday reporting a structure at 1888 Mississippi Highway 12 was ablaze, County Fire Services Coordinator Patrick Warner told The Dispatch Thursday.
Personnel from the District 5, East Oktibbeha and Central Oktibbeha volunteer fire departments arrived to find the house fully engulfed. The structure itself couldn’t be saved, but fire crews contained its spread and eventually extinguished it.
Warner said nobody was injured at the fire, with fire department reports informing him that nobody was home during the fire.
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined, but Warner said the fire is not being treated as suspicious.
