Nicholson named to Phi Sigma Theta
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Cynia Nicholson, of Columbus, was recently named a member of the Phi Sigma Theta National Honor Society at the University of Alabama.
Phi Sigma Theta is a national honor society dedicated to recognizing and rewarding academic achievement in undergraduates at institutions of higher learning.
Local students among UM’s 2025-2026 Who’s Who
OXFORD – More than 200 students were honored as the 2025-26 class of Who’s Who Among Students at the University of Mississippi, including three local to the Golden Triangle. The honorees were recognized for their achievements during a ceremony on April 10 at the Gertrude C. Ford Center for the Performing Arts.
Local students among those named to Who’s Who include Edward Hunter, a political science major from West Point; Colin Kennedy, a biological science major from Starkville; and Nidhi Patel, a classics and psychology and anthropology major from Starkville.
Kabenomuhangi elected to Phi Kappa Phi
BATON ROUGE, La. – Rodgers Kabenomuhangi, of Starkville, was recently elected to membership into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation’s oldest and most selective all-discipline collegiate honor society, at Tennessee State University.
Kabenomuhangi is among approximately 20,000 students, faculty, professional staff and alumni to be initiated into Phi Kappa Phi each year. Membership is by invitation only and requires nomination and approval by a chapter.
Only the top 10% of seniors and 7.5% of juniors are eligible for membership. Graduate students in the top 10% of the number of candidates for graduate degrees may also qualify, as do faculty, professional staff and alumni who have achieved scholarly distinction.
