The Mississippi Association of Supervisors will soon begin accepting applications for its Minority Caucus Scholarship, which is open to all graduating high school seniors in the state.
Applicants must have been accepted for admission to a technical school, community college, senior college or a university in Mississippi.
The online application portal will open April 1, and the deadline for submissions is April 15. A total of 15 awards of $1,000 each will be awarded.
To apply, students must submit a typed application that includes a one-page biography detailing accomplishments, leadership roles and community service activities. Applicants must also submit two letters of recommendation, a high school transcript, an acceptance letter from a Mississippi institution of higher learning and an essay explaining the prompt, “Elections have consequences.” A list of the applicant’s local, state and congressional elected officials with addresses and telephone is also required.
The application and all supporting documents must be submitted as a single PDF document through the online portal at www.mas-mc.org.
Scholarship recipients will be announced at the Mississippi Association of Supervisors Minority Caucus summer meeting in Biloxi, and awards will be presented during a local board of supervisors meeting.
