A community breakfast will be held this week to honor former Mississippi State University football player Nick Bell, who died Nov. 2 after a brief battle with cancer.
The O”Nan Project for Change will be hosting a community breakfast and silent auction to support Nick Bell”s family from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. Wednesday at the Starkville Sportsplex. The breakfast is free, with a $5 suggested donation. All proceeds from the breakfast and auction will support the Bell family.
More than 40 businesses have donated items or services for the auction. The breakfast also is being funded by local businesses.
The auction, which begins at 8 a.m., will have very low minimum bids to allow as much community participation as possible.
Starkville Mayor Parker Wiseman and Mississippi State University”s Ann Carr are scheduled to speak at the breakfast, as well as Meagan O”Nan, award-winning author, speaker and founder of the O”Nan Project. The Starkville Sportsplex is located at 405 Lynn Lane.
