A Thursday afternoon mobile home fire on Frisco Road has claimed the life of a Columbus man.
The victim is identified as Curtis Richardson, 69, Lowndes County Coroner Greg Merchant said in a text to media outlets.
The cause of death is currently still unknown, though foul play is not suspected, Lowndes Volunteer Fire Department Chief Neal Austin Lowndes told The Dispatch.
The fire at Richardson’s mobile home on Frisco Road was reported by witnesses at 3 p.m. and took firefighters about thirty minutes to put out, said Austin.
The fire marshal was called because there was a fire death but the fire department has not heard back from them, Austin said.
“It doesn’t appear to be anything suspicious at this time, but it’s still under investigation,” he said.
