Falcon Contracting, which is paving or repairing 69 Columbus streets this year for more than $2.2 million, plans to finish paving streets that do not require milling first, according to a general schedule released by the company.
City Engineer Kevin Stafford, in an email to city councilmen, said Falcon would go through the city”s list of 20 roads that do not require milling — which can be found online at cdispatch.com — by wards.
“They will start in Ward 1 and generally work in numerical order through each ward and end in Ward 6,” he told councilmen in the email. “There are a few streets that need more attention than just paving, such as base repairs and raising manhole rings, so some of those streets may be done after that work is complete.”
After finishing those roads in early July, Falcon will begin milling the remaining streets in the week after July 4 and paving them “almost immediately” after that, Stafford said.
The company has 150 days, beginning in June, to finish the city”s list of projects, which also includes four roads that just require striping.
Falcon has been delayed while waiting for its sub contractor, Triangle Maintenance, to raise manholes and valves ahead of paving, which is part of the reason a more specific schedule was not available, Stafford said. The general schedule released by the company may not apply to all streets, some of which have additional requirements from the city.
