Severe weather warnings Tuesday led Columbus City Council to reschedule its regular meeting to 5 p.m. today.
Angela Jones, executive assistant to Mayor Keith Gaskin, emailed an announcement Tuesday afternoon, saying city employees, excluding emergency personnel, could leave early due to the threat of inclement weather.
The National Weather Service issued tornado watches and wind advisories that would have been in effect at the same time as the scheduled council meeting time.
Due to the change, the mayor’s weekly press conference, usually held Wednesday morning after the previous day’s council meeting, was also canceled.
