STARKVILLE — A Columbus teen is charged with capital murder in a fatal shooting Tuesday night at Blake Court Townhouses.
Tyshawn Henley, 18, was arrested Wednesday afternoon by the U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Fugitive Task Force, according to a press release from Starkville Police Department.
Henley is accused of killing Kirby Sherman, 31, of Starkville, during a robbery.
Police officers responded at about 7:34 p.m. to the townhouses at 1220 Louisville Street. Sherman was unresponsive by the time they arrived. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

“Drugs, cash and guns remain a consistent contributor in the senseless loss of life throughout this area,” SPD Chief Mark Ballard said in the press release. “I am sorry for this family’s loss. The speed of the arrest would not have been possible without the diligent efforts of the first responding officers at Starkville PD and the tremendous assistance of community members who provided their support.”
The incident is still under investigation. There were no other injuries reported, according to Starkville Police Public Information Officer Brandon Lovelady.
