The League of Women Voters of the Golden Triangle Area will host a forum for municipal election candidates at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the upstairs meeting room at Columbus-Lowndes Public Library.
A meet and greet with the candidates will follow the planned hourlong forum. Voter assistance and information will be available for any Mississippi resident, according to a press release from the organization.
Mayoral Candidates Darren Leach and Bill Strauss have agreed to attend, as have most candidates in each council race, the press release said. Ward 2 councilman elect Roderick Smith and unopposed Ward 3 incumbent Rusty Greene are also invited.
Mayoral candidate Stephen Jones and Ward 6 council candidate Jason Spears will not attend but will answer questions asked at the forum on their Facebook pages, the press release said.
The library’s rear parking lot is reserved for another event Saturday, but free parking is available in the former First Baptist Church parking lot across the street.
