A Columbus Air Force Base airman was pronounced dead at about 12:30 p.m. today after he was involved in a motorcycle wreck on Highway 45 North.
The wreck happened about one mile south of the base near the intersection of Highway 45 North and Mike Parra Road, according to a CAFB press release.
The victim was riding a motorcycle north on Highway 45 North when he struck the back of an 18-wheeler.
As of Monday afternoon, CAFB and Lowndes County officials had not released the victim”s name, pending the notification of the man”s family.
Further details of the wreck are pending Mississippi Highway Patrol and CAFB safety board investigations, according to the press release.
