Columbus native, Corey Lockett, opened a credit repair company Friday.
Miami-based company Generational Credit, 118 S. McCrary Road, Suite 127, is geared toward helping people with credit issues, financial management and even buying a house. Lockett took over the company last October and opened the company’s second location in Columbus. If you need help with your credit score, call 662-352-2511 to make an appointment. It is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m.-6 p.m.
Over in Caledonia, a vital local store will shutter its doors.
Family Dollar, 9976 Wolfe Road, will officially close May 26.
An anonymous store representative said the store has nine employees and most have been offered transfer locations to area stores.
“The towns people are worried the building will stay vacant,” she said. “I’m just extremely disappointed.”
Family Dollar is open every day from 9 a.m.-7 p.m.
Over in Starkville, the Habitat for Humanity ReStore shop will move from 1632 N. Montgomery St., into downtown.
Habitat office manager Amanda Henry said the primary reason for moving was to become more visible in the community.
“It will be easier for people to get to,” Henry said. “It will be more of a regular store. It’s going to be a little bit nicer and we can have some nicer household items for sale.”
The ReStore sells donated items and uses those profits to build homes in the area. The new store, 206 South Jackson St., will host its grand opening April 26 at 11 a.m. The current location is open the first and third Saturday of the month. Once the store opens on Jackson Street, it will be open every Friday from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m.-2 p.m.

Starkville’s market, at Fire Station Park, is preparing to open April 2. If you’re looking to sell some homemade goods, be sure to apply for a vendor’s application. The market will open each Tuesday from 4-6 p.m. The Saturday market will start in May from 7:30-10:30 a.m.
