Columbus is getting a motorcycle shop on Main Street.
It is called Hog Hounds. It will open Saturday. The owner is Rodger Jinks and yes: He drives a Harley.
Jinks told The Dispatch what he will offer initially is clothing, gear and accessories that will appeal to most any motorcycle enthusiast. He has both women and men clothing. He noted, too, that while the clothing is aimed toward the biker lifestyle, anyone is welcome to come in and browse the racks.
In a few weeks, Hog Hounds will open a maintenance shop. They will do repair work and sell things like batteries and tires for motorcycles, according to Jinks.
The business’ hours have not yet been set in stone, but Jinks thinks it will be open Wednesday, Thursday and Friday afternoons and evenings, as well as all day on Saturdays.
Hog Hounds is at 2406 Main St.
Jinks works at Columbus Motor Co.
Staying in Columbus, Smackers has opened back up.
The frozen yogurt shop had been located in Waverly Square on Highway 45 North for about five years. In early December, Eat With Us Group purchased the business and closed it temporarily and began the process of moving it to Jackson Square. It opened in the new spot Monday in a 1,250-square-foot space directly beside Sweet Peppers.
Shannon Barkley, director of sales and marketing with Eat With Us Group, said that in addition to the yogurt and 30-plus toppings offered, Smackers carries cheesecake, brownies and cookies. There are 12 flavors of yogurt and they will be rotated out with others occasionally. The flavors today include: Tahitian vanilla, Belgian cookie gelato, yellow cake batter gelato, cheesecake and more.
The business is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Sunday through Thursday, and from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Friday and Saturday.
Employees of Sweet Peppers are dually employed at Smackers.
