JACKSON — Runners from 47 states and 10 countries will take to the streets of Jackson to compete in the sixth annual Mississippi Blues Marathon.
Race director John Noblin said Saturday’s event will be the biggest so far, with about 3,000 entrants in the marathon, half marathon and team relay.
Figures cited by the Jackson Convention and Visitors Bureau show the marathon pumped $490,000 into the local economy in 2011.
Bureau spokeswoman Marika Cackett told The Clarion-Ledger that the economic figure is on the conservative side.
