There were no injuries in a house fire that destroyed a home at 485 Archie Agnew Road in Caledonia on Thursday.
Responders with the Lowndes County Volunteer Fire Department arrived at the home sometime between 1:30 and 2 p.m. to find the house already engulfed in flames, Lowndes County Fire Coordinator Sammy Fondren said. The fire had most likely been burning for a while before anyone called 911, he said.
No one was in the home when it caught fire, nor were any neighbors on the road at their homes.
The owners have been notified, but Fondren declined to release their names. Lowndes County tax records indicate Barry Hustytenn owns the structure.
The fire is still under investigation, and the cause is unknown. But Fondren said authorities have not reached out to an arson investigator.
