OKTIBBEHA COUNTY — A Mathiston man faces an attempted murder charge for a Feb. 6 shooting on Sturgis-West Point Road in Oktibbeha County.
Roy Fuller Jr., 42, is accused of shooting a male victim several times while he was driving, causing the victim to wreck his vehicle.
Houston police and Chickasaw County deputies arrested Fuller on Saturday afternoon in a hotel room in Houston, a press release from Oktibbeha County Sheriff’s Office said. He was then transferred to OCSO custody and booked in Oktibbeha County Jail, where he remains.
Oktibbeha sheriff’s deputies responded to the wreck scene Tuesday and found the victim with several gunshot wounds, Investigations Capt. Brett Watson told The Dispatch. The victim was airlifted to an out-of-area hospital, where he remains in stable condition.
“Last I understand it, he’s expected to recover,” Watson said.
Investigators developed Fuller as a suspect in the following days, Watson said, but he would not specify the motive for the shooting or whether Fuller knew the victim. He also would not comment on whether the victim and suspect were riding together.
Watson said he doesn’t believe robbery was a motive.
