CALEDONIA – Political hopefuls will have a chance to meet voters and field questions Thursday night at a candidate forum at Patch of Heaven, 131 Hoyle Grant Drive.
District 1 Constable Chris Griffin is hosting the event, which is open to all candidates, regardless of party. A meet-and-greet is set for 6:30 p.m., with the forum to follow at 7 p.m.
Griffin said all local and several state candidates have been invited, and 16 have already confirmed they will come.
Candidates will have 2 to 5 minutes to introduce themselves, and then they will take questions from the audience, Griffin said.
“We’re going to have a box at the door for people to submit questions,” Griffin said. “After the questions, everyone can stay to socialize.”
Griffin said this is the second event held at the venue, which he and his wife own. Its inaugural event was a Chris McDaniel campaign stop, held last week.
Griffin’s daughter, Maci Griffin, is running for tax collector, but he said that won’t have any effect on how the forum will be handled.
“There will be no Maci Griffin campaign literature there or anything,” Chris Griffin said. “It’s a completely neutral site, and everybody’s welcome.”
