A Columbus man has been arrested after allegedly stabbing someone during an argument over the “Madden” football video game.
Leandrae Markell Richey, 31, turned himself in Tuesday morning, according to a Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office press release. He was charged with aggravated assault.
The dispute began at about 6:04 p.m. Monday at a residence in the 1400 block of Drake Circle, the release said. Witnesses told deputies that Richey became upset while playing the video game with the 30-year-old victim, which led to an argument. The argument continued in the backyard, where witnesses saw Richey stab the victim.
Richey fled the scene before deputies arrived. The victim was taken to Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle, where he underwent surgery.
Richey remains in custody at the Lowndes County Adult Detention Center. His bond was set at $25,000.
