STARKVILLE — Mississippi State University is partnering with the Mississippi Enterprise for Technology to put on the Aerospace and Defense Symposium June 27 at the Mill at MSU.
MSET President and CEO Davis Pace told The Dispatch the organization invited more than 100 companies connected to government contracting and aerospace throughout the state to attend a three-day series of networking events and panels discussing business strategies and advancements in the aerospace field.
So far, 150 people have signed up, and more than 50 companies will be represented, including Camgian Microsystems, a technology research and product development company in Starkville, which is co-sponsoring the event.
The symposium also marks the launch of MSET’s Aerospace and Defence Cluster, a statewide network of companies looking to familiarize themselves with other businesses, government contracts and what contractors look at before bidding on a project.
Interested parties can contact the MSET office at (228) 688-3144 for more information, Pace said.
“We certainly want to allow these companies to understand capabilities of other companies, understand capabilities of the universities in the state, the capabilities of the federal assets in the state to best leverage and be able to put their best foot forward whenever dealing with prime or government contractors.”
The three-day conference will feature a reception, several sponsor-led panels discussing the state of aerospace and defense contracting and how companies obtain contracts from agencies like the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, the Department of Defense.
The event will also host a panel on how companies work with public universities such as Mississippi State University, the University of Mississippi and the University of Southern Mississippi.
Attendees will even receive a tour of the Center for Advanced Vehicular Systems, the Advanced Composites Institute and Raspet Flight Center.
Pace said registration for the event officially ended in early June, but tickets can still be found on Eventbrite for between $150 and $200.
