A Lowndes County man is charged with murder for allegedly killing his father on Friday night.
Bradley Wayne Peeks, 21, was arrested for the shooting death of Larry Wayne Peeks Jr., 45.
Lowndes County sheriff’s deputies responded to a shots fired call in the area of Shirley Drive east of Columbus at 11:49 p.m., according to a sheriff’s office press release. They arrived to find the victim lying in the street, who was later pronounced dead by Coroner Greg Merchant.
The suspect was arrested without incident and a 9-millimeter handgun was recovered.
The press release says the motive for the shooting is still being investigated.
Bradley Peeks is being held in Lowndes County Adult Detention Center. His bond has not been set.
