Authorities have charged a Waffle House employee accused of stabbing a customer to death with murder.
Hezekiah Manigo, 22, of Columbus, was arrested Wednesday morning for the death of Davartex Artez Fisher, 28.
Fisher was at the Waffle House location near the intersection of Highway 45 North and Highway 82 at about 2 a.m. Wednesday when he and Manigo apparently got into an argument over a food order, according to a Columbus Police Department press release. The release said “a weapon was produced” and that Manigo attacked Fisher. Fisher was taken to Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle where he died.
Lowndes County Coroner Greg Merchant, who identified Fisher’s body, told The Dispatch Fisher apparently died of stab wounds, though CPD investigators did not identify the weapon used in the murder.
Fisher’s body will be taken to the state medical examiner’s office in Pearl for autopsy, Merchant said.
Manigo is currently in custody at Lowndes County Adult Detention Center. His bond had not been set as of Wednesday afternoon.
