Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office deputies have taken a man into custody after he allegedly attacked another individual and then barricaded himself in a home on Jess Lyons Road.
Deputies were called to the home just before 3:30 a.m. today after receiving a report that someone had been shot, according to an LCSO press release. Upon arriving, they determined a 27-year-old victim had been assaulted, but was not shot.
The suspect, identified in the release only as a 24-year-old male, refused to cooperate with officers or come out of the house. After more than three hours, at 6:39 a.m., Lowndes County special weapons and tactics officers convinced the suspect to surrender.
The press release said neither the suspect nor any deputies were injured.
Officials are still investigating the incident, and will release more information once charges are filed, the release said.
