Two suspects are in custody in connection with a March 24 shooting, while a suspect in a separate case was arrested Monday for running a Facebook Marketplace car scam.
Laquantavious Perry, 26, was arrested Tuesday and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Nicole Young, 43, was arrested Wednesday and charged with accessory after the fact in that case.
At about 2:09 a.m. March 24, officers responded to reports of a shooting near an apartment complex at the 2200 block of Eighth Avenue South, a press release issued Tuesday said.
After interviewing several witnesses, officers determined Perry to be a person of interest in the alleged shooting between Perry and another individual who escaped unharmed, Public Information Officer Bryan Moore told The Dispatch.
Investigators also collected evidence at the scene that made Perry their prime suspect, though Moore did not specify the evidence that investigators collected.
After issuing a warrant for his arrest, Perry turned himself in to CPD Tuesday and was taken to Lowndes County Adult Detention Center.
Through the course of the investigation, CPD also arrested Young, though Moore did not specify how she was involved.
False pretense
In a separate case, Lonnie Sanders, 35, was arrested Monday and charged with false pretense.
Sanders on Monday advertised a car for sale on Facebook Marketplace for $20,000 and asked for half of the payment up front from a victim who sent him $10,000 before meeting with him that same day.
Moore said Sanders asked for the other half to be given after he delivered the car to the victim that day, but the car was never brought by Sanders.
Moore did not specify where the transaction took place.
Sanders was arrested the same day by CPD and taken to Lowndes County Adult Detention Center.
