A free public performance Sunday, Nov. 7, by the Starkville-MSU Symphony Chorus will feature Franz Schubert”s “Mass in G,” accompanied by strings and organ.
The 3:30 p.m. concert, to be held at First United Methodist Church, 200 W. Lampkin St., Starkville, will be under the direction of Ted Beverly.
Composed in 1815, the “Mass in G” was written over a period of just five days and is one of the most well known of Schubert”s religious works.
Soloists are soprano Rebecca Wascoe, tenor Wayne Davis, and bass Greg Wascoe. All are faculty members in the Mississippi State music department.
In addition to the longer work, each soloist will present a Schubert selection in the first part of the concert.
The Starkville-MSU Symphony Association is now in its 42nd consecutive season. The orchestra and chorus will also present a Criss Christmas concert Nov. 30.
