Happy blackberry season, y’all! My thornless blackberries have begun to ripen and, man, are they good. We’ve had them planted for three years, and this year they have really taken off. In celebration of their success, I decided it was time for one of my favorite summer cocktails: the Blackberry Fence Hopper.
I first learned this recipe from the cookbook “Shake: A New Perspective on Cocktails” by Eric Prum and Josh Williams. I stumbled across it at a thrift store (lucky find), and now anytime I want a new cocktail at home, I refer to this little perfect collection of drinks.
Regardless of whether you use foraged blackberries or store-bought, I know you’ll enjoy this refreshing, very summer-coded beverage.
THE BLACKBERRY FENCE HOPPER

■ Add the lemon juice, honey and blackberries to a shaker.
■ Muddle the ingredients in the bottom of the shaker until thoroughly crushed.
