As we enter into this Thanksgiving season, let us remember the importance of giving God thanks, not just on Thanksgiving Day but every day. It’s important that we give Him thanks because:
• He is good. — God is so good to all of us. He is constantly doing something for us at all times. He is always good, gracious, and merciful. That’s why it’s so important for us to give Him thanks, because He deserves it. “O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever.” (1 Chronicles 16:34) KJV
• It will give us peace. — When we allow His peace to rule in our hearts, it will be seen by what we say and by what we do. His peace not only affects how we look and feel about a situation, it impacts how we react to it. Even if things are falling apart around us and everything looks desperate, He will give us peace in the midst of it. For this reason, it’s important to give God thanks. “And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.” (Colossians 3:15) KJV
• It’s God’s will for us. Thanksgiving is God’s will for us in all circumstances. Therefore, it’s important for us to give Him thanks. No matter how bad the circumstance is, we can still find something in that circumstance to be thankful for. “Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.” (1Thessalonians 5:18) NLT
• God has given us victory through His Son Jesus. As Christians we can experience the victorious life that has been made possible in Jesus. He has given us victory over temptation, depression, sickness, sin, and even death. This is why it’s so important for us to give Him thanks. “But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” (1 Corinthians 15:57 ) KJV
• It gives us access to God’s presence. Each time we come in the presence of God, we should do it with praise and thanksgiving in our hearts. The more we thank and praise Him, it will shift our focus off what we’re going through and put our focus on Him. Once we do this, we will realize how important it is to give thanks to God. “Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.” (Psalm 100:4) KJV
So be encouraged today and always remember: It’s very important for us to give thanks to God, not just for some things but for everything. “Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.” (Ephesians 5:20) KJV
Happy Thanksgiving Day!
