As children of God, we must stop looking back at the things that happen in our lives and keep moving forward. As we keep moving forward, we are promised strength, not just to push through but to truly thrive in a life full of hope.
“The righteous keep moving forward, and those with clean hands become stronger and stronger.” (Job 17:9, NLT)
Life does not always go according to plan. We often experience periods in which it seems like one bad thing after another happens to us. In times like these, don’t look back, keep moving forward to the great things God has in store for your future.
“‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’” (Jeremiah 29:11, NIV)
Sometimes we find ourselves constantly revisiting painful memories such as relationship break ups, the betrayal of a friend or a significant life change. However, we can’t keep looking back at these things. We have to keep moving forward to the new thing God is about to do in our lives.
“For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness. I will create rivers in the dry wasteland.” (Isaiah 43:19, NLT)
We often find ourselves looking back on our past. Nevertheless, we can’t go back and change our past or fix what has already been done. So, let us put our past behind us, learn from it and keep the lessons it taught us. Then we can move forward rather than dwelling on what has already passed.
“Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before.” (Philippians 3:13, KJV)
When we make bad decisions, we regret the bad choices we made but don’t look back, keep moving forward. Jesus is our divine guide, and He will instruct us what to do when we’re faced with hard decisions.
“I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.” (Psalm 32, KJV)
If you made a mistake and sin against God don’t look back and keep doing the same sin again, just ask God to forgive you and keep moving forward.
“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (1 John 1:9, KJV)
So be encouraged today and always remember: Don’t look back, keep moving forward to the goal that Christ has set before us.
“I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 3:14, KJV)
