The West Point Clay County Arts Council is excited to announce the opening of an art exhibit featuring the photography of Amanda Hatchett at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Louise Campbell Center for the Arts.
Amanda Hatchett, a West Point native, is the owner of ‘Sippi Sippin’ Coffee shop in Tupelo, where she and her husband, Todd Hatchett, manage the overall operation.
Hatchett is also now the author of a coffee table novel entitled “Tippin Lite: A Shoe Fetish Collection.”
In her book, Hatchett expresses that as a child growing up in rural Mississippi, it was her mother, Amanda Dot Sykes that felt a lady should always “tip lite” to avoid ruining her heels with scuffs and scratches as she walked. Hatchett’s mother taught her to stand up straight and tall with her back erect and her chest up and to smile like a lady. Straightforward as these teachings may be, they carried Hatchett through life and are the backbone of her book.
Photographs from her “Tippin Lite: A Shoe Fetish Collection” book will be on display at the art
exhibit.
“We are so excited to have Amanda exhibit her photography,” Louise Campbell, art exhibit chair, said. “She has some very beautiful and unique photographs. We know everyone will enjoy seeing her work.”
The photographs display the true art and essence of high heel shoes. They tell a story inspired by fashion from the 21st century, captured in various mediums and settings in simple everyday life. This event is family friendly and free to the public.
‘Star Search’
The Arts Council is also excited to announce the performances of “Star Search,” a children’s drama based on Philippians 2:3-7. This story of the birth of Jesus Christ is told from an inspiring perspective.
“We have a great cast lined up and we know it will be a great show,” said Thea Kay Tribble, director of the production.
Performances will be on Nov. 11 at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. and on Nov. 12 at 4:30 p.m. at the Louise Campbell Center for the Arts. Tickets are $5 per person and can be purchased at Petal Pushers or by calling the WPCC Arts Council at (662) 295-0461.
